Lahir di Reading, Inggris, 5 Oktober 1975 dari pasangan Sally Anne dan Roger John Winslet.
Kate Winslet merupakan anak kedua dari empat bersaudara.
Mulai belajar drama pada usia 11 tahun di Redroofs Theatre School.
Kemudian pada usia 12 tahun, Kate Winslet tampil dalam iklan pertamanya.
Kate Winslet menikah dengan Jim Threapleton pada 1998, namun kemudian bercerai pada 2001.
Dua tahun kemudian Kate Winslet menikah dengan sutradara Sam Mendes pada 2003 dan kembali bercerai pada 2011.
Pada 2012, Kate Winslet menikah dengan Ned Rocknroll, pasangan ini dikarunia dua orang anak laki-laki dan seorang perempuan. (1)
