Judi Dench

TRIBUNNEWSWIKI.COM – Judi Dench merupakan aktris senior asal Inggris yang pernah memenangkan penghargaan Academy Award untuk perannya sebagai Ratu Elizabeth dalam film Shakespeare in Love.

Judi Dench yang memiliki nama lengkap Judith Olivia Dench lahir di North Riding Yorkshire, Inggris pada 9 Desember 1934 dari pasangan Eleanora Olive seorang penata busana dan Reginald Arthur Dench yang seorang dokter.

Judi Dench juga memiliki seorang saudara laki-laki bernama Jeffrey Dench yang juga merupakan seorang aktor.

Judi Dench menempuh pendidikannya di Mount School dan pernah ikut latihan sebagai desainer di York School of Art.

Judi Dench kemudian melanjutkan pendidikannya di Central School of Speech Training and Drama di London untuk belajar drama.

Judi Dench menikah dengan aktor Michael Williams pada 1971 dan pernikahan keduanya bertahan hingga Michael Williams meninggal pada 2001.(1) 

Judi Dench debut di panggung pertunjukan sejak 1957 dengan Old Vic Production Company di Royal Court dan pada 1961 dirinya bergabung dengan Royal Shakespeare Company.

Ketika berada di Royal Shakespeare Company tersebut, Judi Dench mendapatkan peran sebagai utama wanita Shakespeare.

Pada tahun 1959, Judi Dench melakukan debut televisi di serial BBC 'Hilda Lessways' dan pada 1960-an Judi Dench melakukan debut di layar lebar dalam film 'Four in the Morning' (1965).

Karier yang semakin berkembang membuat Judi Dench memiliki banyak penggemar internasional.

Judi Dench kemudian melebarkan karier di Hollywood.

Perannya sebagai M, bos wanita dari James Bond dalam film 'Golden Eye' (1995) menjadi proyek besar yang akhirnya semakin membuat nama Judi Dench dikenal luas.

Judi Dench juga mengulang kembali perannya sebagai M dalam enam seri film James bond lainnya seperti 'Tomorrow Never Dies' (1997), 'The Worlds is Not Enough' (1999), 'Die Another Day' (2002), 'Casino Royale' (2006), 'Quantum of Solace' (2008), dan 'Skyfall' (2012).

Pada 1997, Judi Dench menjadi pemeran utama dalam film biografi Ny Brown sebagai Ratu Victoria.

Lalu, Judi Dench berperan sebagai ratu Elizabeth I di film 'Shakespeare in Love'.

Peran mengesankan lainnya dari Judi Dench adalah dalam film 'Chocolat' (2000), 'Iris' (2001), 'Mrs Henderson Presents' (2005) dan 'Notes on a Scandal' (2006).

Pada 2015, Judi Dench menjadi pemain pendukung dalam film 'Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot'.
