Michelle Dockery mengawali karier dari panggung teater.

Ia memulai debutnya dalam pentas 'His Dark Materials' di Royal National Theatre pada 2004.

Dua tahun kemudian, aktris Inggris ini memerankan karakter Dina Dorf dalam 'Pillars of the Community', di National Theatre.

Berkat aktingnya, dia masuk nominasi Ian Charleson Award.

Tak hanya di panggung teater, Michelle Dockery juga merambah ke dunia layar kaca.

Ia mengawali debut di televisi pada tahun 2005.

Kala itu, ia memainkan peran sebagai Betty dalam 'Fingersmith'.
