Semasa kecil, Michael Sheen bersekolah di Blaenbaglan Primary School dan Glan Afan Comprehensive School.

Selanjutnya, ia meneruskan pendidikan di Neath Port Talbot College dan mengambil fokus studi Inggris, sosiologi, serta drama.

Karier akting Michael Chris dimulai dari panggung drama.

Ia mendapatkan peran profesional pertama di teater dalam 'When She Danced'.

Teater tersebut dipentaskan Globe Theatre.

Debut Akting Michael Sheen baru dimulai pada tahun 1993.

Kala itu, ia memainkan perannya sebagai Joseph dalam Gallowglass.

Dua tahun kemudian, ia memainkan peran sebagai Lodovico dalam Othelo.

Mulai dari kesempatan tersebut, Michael Sheen mulai mendapatkan berbagai peran di layar lebar.
