Film kedua dari seri Fantastic Beasts ini akan melanjutkan kisah Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) untuk kembali menangkap Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) yang berhasil lolos dari penjara.

Bersama Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) Newt harus bisa menghentikan Grindelwald yang ingin menghancurkan tatanan dunia.

Pada akhir film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, penyihir gelap Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) ditangkap oleh MACUSA (Kongres Sihir Amerika Serikat), dengan bantuan Newt Scamander (Redmayne).

Tapi, dengan memanfaatkan ancamannya, Grindelwald melarikan diri dari tahanan dan telah mengatur dan mengumpulkan pengikut, untuk meningkatkan penyihir darah murni hingga menguasai semua makhluk non-magis.

Di film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald ini Albus Dumbledore (Law) bertemu dengan Newt untuk menggagalkan rencana Grindelwald. (4)

Saat muda, Dumbledore dan Grindelwald memiliki hubungan personal yang dekat, oleh karena itu Dumbledore membujuk Newt untuk melacak Credence (Ezra Miller). (5)
